5 Songs That Make Me REALLY Happy

Music is the lifeblood that connects us when words fail. Ever make a mix tape for your crush? Or in this day and age, send over your Spotify playlist? 1. TOPLOADER - DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT

The memories are fuzzy and the evening was late, me and my friends waltzed into 'The Shack' in Cape Town city centre, which is now no more, and destroyed their dance floor when this song came on. Every time it comes on my face goes full smile, with teeth and I HAVE to boogie.

2. ANGEL OF MINE - MONICA

Oh the teenage angst! This takes me straight back to my best friend's room and her tiny single bed where we napped and navigated life from. Unrequited love, drama with friends, high school mischief and a group of people I still get to call my family now.

3. GANGSTER'S PARADISE - COOLIO

You know, FOOL! I will rap this word for word anytime, anywhere and feel no shame... If it comes on in the car, my fellow drivers are getting the full break down and my kids know this is not a drill.

4. YOU GOT THE LOVE - FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE

Wedding song, nuff said.

5. IT FEELS SO GOOD - SONIQUE (CLUB VERSION)

Oh the rave scene in the noughties. This classic was in every Cape Town club from Table-View to Town and everywhere in-between. My misspent youth, being completely wild and sneaking out to Dockside or Gallery or Adrenalin or anywhere there was a party! Thank you Sonique! It always FELT SO GOOD!
