Hi! So Glad You're Here.

Welcome! Thanks for spending some time with me and diving into The Refined Philistine. This is a place to curate my thoughts, share recommendations and generally journal my way through the next couple of years.

I'm an 80's baby, raised on sunshine and the sea in Cape Town, South Africa. I still call it home after leaving there 16 years ago to live in the UK, and although I'm not sorry I made a good life for myself here , Cape Town is still the only place I feel completely centred. I've been fortunate to experience life as an expat in a few different countries and travelled a lot as a child thanks to my dad's job as an engineer. I've finished studying for my Bachelors degree in English Literature at the University of Northampton, and it has been the best decision I have made for my personal growth. I share my home with my husband and our little family, we have a Pug called M.Gustave, and my grandmother, Bobbe, who rounds out our crew.

My interests are vast and varied so this space will be a reflection of that. Somewhere to put all my research, poetry, art, travel, culture and everything else I'm currently learning and experiencing so that I can hopefully refine this philistine. I'm a huge advocate for the Anti-Bad Vibes Club and subscribe to a philosophy of mutual respect for all things regardless of race, religion, creed, class or any -ist or -ism that may exist.
