Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, I also enjoy eating breakfast for dinner too, REBEL! Here are the top 5 places I have visited that have served me the most mouthwatering offerings out there.
A typical breakfast might be a quick bowl of cereal, a smoothie to go, some coffee or any numerous combinations of breakfast options available to us these days. On a normal day I usually skip breakfast as I choose to fast on a 16/8 option which means I fast for 16 hrs from 8pm in the evening. My first meal is around 12pm and I like to mix up what I eat quite a lot. I have vegetarian days, or vegan, depending on the mood, I also like to eat meat so I do indulge a few times a week depending on the meal. I prefer to stay away from chicken and pork, I like most red meat, but seafood of any kind is my kryptonite and I prefer it over the other options. But I digress, back to breakfast! On my wide travels, there are few things I like to do more than find the BEST places to eat. Below is a list of eateries I've had breakfast at and been totally blown away.
1. MON AMI GABI - LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

February was the month I travelled to Vegas, just before all this COVID-19 madness kicked off and the word came a crashing halt. Better times... I was there for my 10 year wedding anniversary, and like I mentioned, I like breakfast, so my husband checked for the top breakfast spots in Vegas and in number 1 this little beauty slips right in.
The options are vast, the food is presented perfectly and the taste is next level. You know when you have food envy looking at other people plates? Well that is exactly how it felt sitting at the cafe which looks over the Bellagio Fountains. We were seated outside with the heaters running and the cool February air just creating a hint of a chill. Our server poured us water immediately and took our drinks order, orange juice and filter coffee, and then we were left to browse the breakfast menu. There is every conceivable option from European meat selections to American pancakes. I opted for their Three Eggs option, poached, which came with sausage, hash brown, toast, and I ordered a side of avocado. Heavenly, seriously, it was awesome, and everything looked great there so I'm sure I could have eaten my way through the entire menu given enough time!
2. CLINTON STREET BAKING COMPANY - NEW YORK

OH. MY. GOD. Clinton Street was recommended by a friend when I was in New York, I threw out a 'HMU with your best NY breakfast insta's' and my bestie popped up with this little nugget. We arrived relatively early, 10.30am and the place was PACKED. We only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated and while we were there the line just grew, this place is very popular, and for good reason. We went pancakes all around this time with maple butter and a side of bacon. It was hands down the fluffiest and most satisfying pancake experience of my life! Again, the water was poured as soon as we sat down and the pancakes were on the table in 15 minutes after we placed our orders, considering how heaving the place was, the staff were amazing and very efficient and the food was worth the walk through the crazy, icy winds that were sweep through NY in January, BRRR!
3. GRAND LUX CAFE - THE VENETIAN, LAS VEGAS

My husband and I spent a week in Vegas for our anniversary and were lucky enough to book the Venetian. Inside there are so many restaurants and eateries you wouldn't get through them all in a week, we tried! But a most memorable and delicious breakfast was at the Grand Luxe Cafe. Here I opted for their french toast with maple syrup and strawberries. The french toast was so thick I think my eyes popped out of my head when the food arrived. Three HUGE pieces of perfectly cooked french toast which I ended up having to abandon after the second piece as I was completely and utterly stuffed. They also have a buffet option that they run which we ended up going back for another day and was also amazing, you had a full selection of everything from fruits and yogurts to baked goods and all the breakfast usuals.
4. BARTELLA'S - NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

Everyone has their favourite breakfast spot and this one is mine, living in Northampton I feel like I have exhausted all the breakfast options and this place is still my favourite. They poach an egg like no other, and their hollandaise sauce is what breakfast dreams are made of. I have ordered everything on the menu, and its all good. My favourite meal here for breakfast is Eggs Royale, and they stock Rooibos tea so I always get one of those, slice of lemon, no milk for me. It's comforting and wholesome and I always walk away happy. The best part is it is on my doorstep, a 5 minutes walk away!
5. THE BOATHOUSE COFFEE SHOP - YZERFONTEIN, ZA

Last, but by no means least, this is home food for me. Breakfast at The Boathouse means I'm home. Like, really home. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, this little slice of the West Coast is where I am happiest. The food tastes better here, the air is salty-sweet with the smell of the ocean and the wafts of the kitchen cooking up a storm while you soak in the morning sunshine sitting outside on the terrace; views of the beach stretching left and right. The local tide pool is just across the road and as kids we would always be in our swim suits, barefoot and sun kissed, waiting for our breakfast whilst splashing in the water. My favourite breakfast meal here is their full breakfast with boerewors. It has everything in there, bacon, eggs, boerewors, toast, and all the rest, great hangover recovery food after an evening braai (BBQ) at home that turned into a party with the neighbours!
So there you have it, my top 5 places to go and grab a bite, I tried to add a little bit of everything in there for you but there are so many more I could list, I might do a Top 5 Breakfast Buffet list because The Waldorf Astoria at the Palm in Dubai is just freaking insane! Where is your favourite spot? What's your ultimate breakfast indulgence? I love hearing about good places to eat so HMU!
